UNUSUAL PLANTS

echpiIn this section plants are listed as unusual often because they are or because they do not fit easily in to the other sections.

You will notice that there are a lot of Acacia species listed, this is because I love them, they are wonderful plants with bright yellow flowers often scented and many of them are hardier than expected. All are listed by the Australian botanic garden as hardy to at least -7C and many we grow outside here and have done now for since 2000. There is a selection of tree like species to small shrubs, the variation in foliage types ear marks them as one of the most under valued plants in the UK.

Aeonium Schwartzkopt, is the only plant we frost protect, and if very dry during winter will survive as low as -6C but does suffer a little. All the other plants are grown in cold tunnels and many grow outside here.
